Typing the names just now I realised I pronounce the first one in my head in a terrible Scottish accent and the second one in a terrible French accent so I really can't use the two interchangeably. It'd be anarchy. Not that I've ever had a macaron to be honest. I like meringue but the macaron is so brightly coloured and *tidy* looking that I find it a bit off-putting.
